Karen Klein's bus bullies served with one-year suspension and community service

Earlier this month, a video went viral of the elderly Greece, NY bus monitor Karen Klein being bullied and berated by the middle-school students on her bus. The response was enormous -- over $675,000 has been raised on the site IndieGoGo for Karen to use as she chooses.

Now, the school district has also responded. The four boys identified in the video have been suspended from school for one year, and instead will have to attend an alternative education program. They'll be banned from school district buses for one year, and each boy is required to complete 50 hours of community service for the elderly.

When asked if the punishment was satisfactory, Klein told the AP, "It's fine with me." She plans to donate some of her windfall to research and hasn't yet decided if she will return to work -- but she is relieved to know that if she does, she won't have to face her tormenters next year.
