After splitting up in November tattoo artist Kat Von D and DJ Deadmau5 got engaged over Twitter in December. Now they're in wedding planning mode, as their August 10 nuptials get closer. Talking to People, Von D says the wedding will have an underwater theme.
The couple plans to marry in front of a crowd of 200 friends and family in Los Angeles. Inspired by a favorite short story of theirs, "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft, Kat assured everyone that the wedding will be "the furthest thing from traditional."
The couple is going all out, from performers dressed to look like mermaids to the food being blue and green. As for her dress, Von D says that will fit the part as well. "It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients," she explains. The dress is being made by Falguni and Shane Peacock, with some design assistance by Deadmau5.
Traditionally, the groom doesn't see the dress before the wedding, but they're not a traditional couple and superstitions don't matter to Kat. "Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing," she says.
