A very pregnant Kate Hudson dropped a fun bombshell on 'The Today Show' Wednesday morning (April 27) when host Matt Lauer noticed a large rock on her left hand.

"Could you place your hand in my hand for a second please," asks Lauer. "I just want to see something ... Is this new?"

"This is new!" giggles Hudson.

She reveals that she and Matthew Bellamy, the father of her unborn baby and lead singer of the rock band Muse, have gotten engaged about a week ago, but she felt a little silly having a big announcement, so she just waited until somebody noticed.

She also reveals her "Pendulum Test" for figuring out a baby's gender. You put a pendulum over your belly and if it swings back and forth, you're having a boy. If it goes in a circle, you're having a girl.

Kate's pendulum swung in a circle.

This will be Kate's second wedding. She was previously married to Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes, father of her 7-year-old son Ryder.
