Katey Sagal does more than act in "Sons of Anarchy." She is also an accomplished singer who has just released her first full-length album in nine years, "Covered." What sort of music made it into Sagal's tracks?

According to an interview the actress and singer did recently with Billboard, the music chosen includes songs that have inspired her throughout her life. Among them are "For a Dancer" ( Jackson Browne) and "Free Fallin'" ( Tom Petty). "A few of them are songs that inspired me as a kid," Sagal said in the interview. "I listened to lots of Joni Mitchell, so I wanted to include music from her, and I also listened to a lot of rock and roll, so I really liked Tom Petty."

There are a few reasons why Sagal waited so long between albums. "Probably a lot of writers' block, and a really busy schedule," she claimed were the main reasons. "I thought, 'I really need to have some new songs.' I've been trying to write, but I realized that I like the process of recording songs and finding songs."

As for that busy schedule, that should be a given for someone like Sagal. In addition to any music she finds time for, Sagal has starred in "Sons of Anarchy" for six seasons. She also voiced a character on the animated program, "Futurama," until that show's recent cancellation.

The plus side of all of this is that people don't remember Katey Sagal from her past successes. She doesn't regularly get recognized as Peg Bundy from "Married ... With Children" anymore. "Now it's more about [her 'Sons of Anarchy' character] Gemma," Sagal explained.
