Katie Couric expected to announced 'CBS Evening News' departure
The New York Times reports Couric will acknowledge her departure at some point this week, while in London covering the April 29 royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Immediately upon her return during the first week of May, CBS is expected to announce her replacement, allowing for a month of transition before Couric's contract officially runs out June 4.
Couric, who took the job 2006, has faced constant speculation over her position with the network. The rumors of her post-"News" plans include a syndicated daytime talk show -- and even a reunion project with former "Today" co-host Matt Lauer.
