Katie Couric, Kelly Ripa filling in for Robin Roberts during 'Good Morning America' medical leave

robin-roberts-oscars-gi.jpgWhen Robin Roberts takes medical leave away from "Good Morning America" later in 2012, she'll have some pretty worthy successors filling her spot. According to ABC News executive producer Tom Cibrowski, people like Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, Kelly Ripa, Barbara Walters and the other women of "The View" have already volunteered to help out.

Roberts told reporters at the 2012 Television Critics Association summer press tour that when she takes time off to recover from a bone marrow transplant either at the end of August or beginning of September (to treat the Myleodysplastic Syndrome, the blood and bone marrow disease she was diagnosed with earlier in 2012 and a side effect of her successful breast cancer treatment), she'll have some powerful people filling her shoes.

"I have some wonderful, wonderful friends at ABC News, who happen to also be colleagues, and so ... everybody here is going to step up their game. I'm not worried about that at all," she says.

Among those stepping in will be some familiar ABC News faces, Roberts says. "Diane Sawyer, Barbara Walters, Katie Couric have all agreed to join in. So and the list goes on and on from there."

Adds Cibrowski, "We also have the great resources of our entire company, and we have people like Kelly Ripa. The women of 'The View' have all offered as well to join us on any given day while Robin is gone. So we are looking forward to them, and to a lot of other great offers of support we are getting all the time because we have so many people who love Robin so, so much, love our entire team so much. Everyone is willing to come in and join us for a little bit."
