Katy Perry made good on her promise to bring Verrado High School student Megan Squire to a "special event" with her after Squire was at the center of a video submitted in "Good Morning America" "Roar" high school video contest.

When Perry headed to the 2013 American Music Awards, she brought 17-year-old Squire and her family along with her. Perry's management team contacted Squire recently to reveal to them that Squire and her friends and family would be brought from Arizona to Los Angeles' Nokia Theater as Perry's guests.

Though Verrado High School didn't win Perry's "GMA" "Roar" contest (that honor went to Lakewood High School from Lakewood, Colo.), the pop star said she was so moved by Squire's story in her video submission that she wanted to do something special for her.

"I just want to celebrate her and hear her roar in person," Perry said at the time. "Megan, thank you so much. I love you. I love your spirit. You have really inspired me."
