Katy Perry going 'beyond' her hits for the Grammys
She promises that will be the case again when she performs at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on CBS, Sunday, Feb. 13. Up for four of the honors including Album of the Year, the music superstar is likely to weave her latest hits "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream" (also the album's title) and "Firework" into her performance that night ... but that's not all.
"I'm going to do something beyond that," Perry tells Zap2it. "I'm going to do a really cool, heartfelt song that I really love, and show a different side. I think I'll do a medley of sorts, too, but not too much. It'll be quite a surprise."
The same should apply to Perry's upcoming concert tour. The North American leg of her interactivity-heavy "California Dreams" show begins Tuesday, June 7, in Atlanta, and ends Sunday, Aug. 14, in her hometown: Santa Barbara, Calif.
"It's like training for the Olympics," Perry claims. "I'm off to the gym to build stamina ... and I hate working out, but I have to go, because this is a really energetic show. It's not like I'm going to make my fortune off of touring; I'm basically doing this as a big I.O.U. for all the love and support I've gotten. I need to go shake some hands and kiss some people."
