Katy Perry lashes out in first public comments since divorce
In her first public comments since the Dec. 30 split, she writes on Twitter, "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family."
The "gossip" that Perry is likely referring to is a Jan. 6 article in The Sun that says Brand would frequently make fun of Perry's evangelical parents. The publication cites a source as saying, "[Brand] was forever making lewd jokes at the dinner table and poking fun at her parents' beliefs...He managed to restrain himself in the beginning...But as the marriage progressed, he got worse."
The Sun also quotes a source who says, "After the lust wore off, reality hit home about their differences and she [Perry] was left thinking, 'What have I done?'"
Perry did have words of appreciation for her nearly 14 million Twitter followers who frequently send words of encouragement.
"I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again," she writes.
