Katy Perry tapped as Teen Choice Awards host
Pop star Katy Perry has been named as host of the awards show, which is set to air Aug. 9 on FOX. Perry will also perform on the show, which coincides with the release of her album "Teenage Dream."
If we were betting, we'd lay down a pretty sizable amount of money on Perry singing her single "California Gurls," but those details aren't worked out yet. Perry will also have a co-host for the awards, but he or she hasn't been named.
"California Gurls" currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and has been in the Top 3 since it debuted on May 29. Perry's debut album, "One of the Boys," peaked at No. 9 on the charts and was certified platinum. Maxim also placed her at No. 1 on its "Hot 100" list in May.
Voting for the Teen Choice Awards opens Monday, June 14.
