Katy Perry won't be at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (Aug. 25), but she will perform the show's finale -- from underneath the Brooklyn Bridge.

MTV had previously announced that Perry would perform her new single, "Roar," as the finale, but there was no information given about where this performance would take place. Now, according to US Weekly, the show will go on underneath the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, not far from the main event at Brooklyn's Barclay Center.

Apparently, this venue was actually the second choice for Perry and her performance. Planners had wanted to sing on the Brooklyn Bridge itself, but "the city wouldn't give her the permit." Considering how thoroughly Perry would stop traffic, this isn't a shock.

Katy Perry is set to perform "Roar," the first single off her new album, "Prism." Whether or not she will play a longer concert afterwards has not yet been announced. There were more than half a million downloads of "Roar" in its first week of release, so that one single might just be enough.
