Kelsey Grammer joins 'Transformers 4' as lead villain

kelsey-grammer-windmill-investment-loss-gi.jpgThough the "Transformers" movies generally boil down to good robots battling bad robots, it can't be forgotten that there is usually at least one human villain in the mix.  For the upcoming "Transformers 4," that role will be played by Kelsey Grammer.

Deadline reports that Grammer will play the key antagonist role of Harold Attinger, a "counter intelligence guy." Though Grammer's best known for his years spent playing Frasier Crane, he's not unfamiliar with playing evil. Not only did he spend two years playing the deeply flawed Mayor Tom Kane in Starz's "Boss," he's also lent his voice to rogue's gallery that includes Sideshow Bob from "The Simpsons" and Stinky Pete from "Toy Story 2."

Appearing alongside Grammer in the film, which director Michael Bay has said is the start of a new trilogy, will be Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, "Bates Motel" star Nicola Peltz, and newcomer Jack Reynor.

A release date for "Transformers 4" has not been announced.
