Kevin Ware tweets 'minor setback,' hopes to travel to Final Four in Atlanta
Sophomore Louisville guard Kevin Ware is on the road to recovery, after sustaining a compound fracture in his leg during the Cardinals' Elite Eight game against Duke on Sunday (March 31).
Ware returned to the Louisville campus Tuesday (April 2) after being released from the Indianapolis hospital. Ware tweets, "I couldn't be anymore happier to see my brothers man. Unexplainable!!" and "Minor setback, for a major comeback."
He also has apparently received a call from NBA legend Magic Johnson, as Ware writes, "Thanks for the call earlier. @MagicJohnson we gone get it done." That Magic -- showing support all over the place lately.
Ware also writes on Facebook that he's "back to [his] brothers" and that "the first step is always the hardest one to take."
The AP reports that the next step may be a trip to the Final Four. Of course, Ware cannot play in the game, but Louisville head coach Rick Pitino says he would like it if Ware could travel with the team to the national semifinal game, taking place Saturday, April 7 in Atlanta.
Athletic department spokesman Kenny Klein says they're waiting for the doctors to sign off on traveling. This is Louisville's second consecutive trip to the Final Four.
