Key and Peele in talks to produce 'Police Academy' reboot
Variety reports that the once-successful franchise is in talks to get rebooted, with comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele of "Key & Peele" to produce. The Comedy Central stars would join "Police Academy" franchise creator Paul Maslansky as producers.
Between 1984 and 1994, seven "Police Academy" films were released, with Steve Guttenberg starring in the first four. New Line has been attempting to revive the franchise in recent years.
The new deal isn't signed yet, but before Key and Peele can think about producing the new "Police Academy" movie, they are set to appear in four episodes of FX's "Fargo," which premieres April 15.
