The reaction to the snippet from Beyonce's new song "Bow Down" has been mixed. The song has a grittier sound, and harsher language, than one would normally expect from the pop singer. Some love it, while others don't like the message it sends. One person who is definitely not a fan is R&B singer-songwriter Keyshia Cole.
The chorus of the song features Beyonce repeating the words "Bow down, b****es." The lyrics reference women who wanted to be her at one point, but now just think of her as rapper Jay-Z's "little wife."
Cole doesn't reference Beyonce by name, but in a series of tweets appears to call her out for the song. "First 'Women need to Stick together' now b****es better Bow, she tweets, "Smh. But it's all G! Chicks stay shooting the s***. But when I speak my mind its a prob." Cole seems to be referring to past songs from Beyonce, many of which focus on female empowerment, and unity among women.
Cole continued tweeting, saying, "Can't stand when people all self righteous when it's convenient it makes them look good. Lmao! But can still talk s*** when convenient 2 FOH." No reply from Beyonce, but the snippet released was only a minute of the song from her upcoming fifth album.
