Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were due in court Friday (April 19) for a pre-trial hearing in theie divorce case, which was scheduled to begin May 2. But news broke before the appearance that Kardashian and Humphries had reached an agreement to settle the dissolution of their marriage out of court.
Kim was set to tell the judge of the settlement, while Kris practiced for the NBA playoffs with the Brooklyn Nets. Despite initially demanding $7 million from Kim, as well as an annulment based on his claim she married him strictly for publicity, it seems Kris is walking away empty-handed.
TMZ reports Humphries leaves the marriage without a dime, and dropped his bid for annulment. He also agreed to pay his own attorney fees. So, what on earth happened after a year-and-a-half-long legal battle to make Kris cave? Conspiracy theorists, start your engines.
As a parting gift, Kim asked the judge to drop the financial penalty he was going to levy against Kris for no-showing the last hearing. Kris and Kim still have to sign the papers, but the judge told the former Mrs. Humphries, "Congratulations on your dissolution." And that's as official as it gets.
Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries in Oct. 2011 after 72 days of marriage. She is now dating "Clique" rapper Kanye West. The couple are expecting their first child in July.
