Kim Kardashian records a single, because that's what you do when you're a certain kind of famous

kim-kardashian-single-gi.jpgHere we were, all full of new-year optimism about the possibilities for 2011. And then we found out Kim Kardashian has recorded a single.

Worse still, it was apparently an accident. Kardashian unveiled the song, "Turn It Up," at a New Year's Eve party in Las Vegas, saying "I didn't mean to, but I did this song with The-Dream ..." One shudders to think what she might have come up with had she intentionally recorded it, instead of, one assumes, just randomly wandering into a studio and singing for four minutes or so.

With "Turn It Up," Kardashian joins an, um, illustrious? -- yeah, let's go with that -- roster of reality-TV stars and other creatures of 21st-century fame that includes Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton, Kim Zolciak, Danielle Staub and probably several others we're not thinking of at the moment who have parlayed their notoriety into license to foist their musical dreams on the public.
