Kim Kardashian has officially spoken out about filing for divorce from Kris Humphries, her husband of 72 days.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best," the reality star says in a statement to Ryan Seacrest, the man who's responsible for E!'s Kardashian empire. (Seacrest's production company created "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and its many spinoffs.)
Though rumors about Kardashian and Humphries' crumbling marriage have been swirling since the two tied the knot in August, Seacrest confirmed the news on his radio show Halloween morning that Kardashian had filed for divorce.
"There are reports online that Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce. That is true," Seacrest said. "She is filing for divorce from Kris Humphries this morning. I've spoken to her briefly, and she is sad and got caught up in all that was going on [in the wedding]. ... There were rumors up until the wedding, and after the wedding a lot of rumors about it. It is true."
