kyle-maclachlan-twin-peaks-made-in-jersey.jpgIt's been more than 20 years since "Twin Peaks" made its dramatic debut on network television, but star Kyle MacLachlan still remembers his experience on the groundbreaking series fondly.

"'Twin Peaks' was meant to be backdoor two-hour pilot, but ABC -- for some reason we've not been able to understand why -- picked it up," he said while promoting his new CBS legal procedural, "Made in Jersey."

"It was the first time I'd done TV, and it had tremendous impact and set the tone for future roles -- that's where I made a mark," said the actor, who also worked with "TP" creator David Lynch on "Dune" and "Blue Velvet."

"I see David frequently when I'm in Los Angeles -- we don't live that far from each other," the actor told Zap2it. Unfortunately, he has "no plans at the moment" to collaborate again with Lynch. "I don't know what he's got up his sleeve," he said with a laugh.

In addition to acting, MacLachlan says he is "still making wine up in the Pacific Northwest, Walla Walla red wine with Denham Cellars" -- not far from his Yakima hometown and the fictional Twin Peaks.

We couldn't resist asking the erstwhile Agent Cooper -- famous for his love of the Double R Diner's damn fine coffee and a cherry pie that'll kill ya -- whether coffee and cherry are part of his vino's flavor profile.

"There are definitely components of coffee and cherry," he told us with a chuckle. "Particularly cherry. You can have my wine with cherry pie very easily -- absolutely."
