Labor Day weekend TV: 'Bones,' 'Jersey Shore,' 'Rubicon' and more marathons
What are your best bets for couch potato-ing over the next few days? Here are a few suggestions:
-18 hours is no easy commitment, but that's how much "Who's the Boss?" Hallmark Channel plans to throw at viewers, starting at 6 a.m. ET. (Set your alarms!) Watch Jonathan's eight-season transformation from darling scamp to awkward man-child condensed into just one day.
-Another network not shying away from an entire day devoted to one show is the Travel Channel. They're testing viewers tolerance for exotic foods and unchecked egos with 18 episodes of "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations." Live vicariously starting at 6 a.m. ET.
-Comedy Central is taking advantage of its new batch of "Futurama" episodes by repeating the second half of the most recent season all Sunday evening. It's a late one though, running from 9 p.m. ET to Midnight.
-If you missed an episode -- or never started -- AMC's dense conspiracy thriller "Rubicon," you're in luck. The network has scheduled the first six episodes to run back-to-back, starting at 9 a.m. ET. And because holiday weekends mean nothing to AMC, catch an all new episode at 9 p.m. ET.
-BBC America has concocted a charmingly contrived theme for a movie marathon -- villains with British accents! Yes, that is the only thing these eclectic films have in common. "The Accent of Evil" kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET with "Star Trek Generations" and continues with "Die Hard with a Vengeance," "Superman II" and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves."
-Fans anxious for the Sept. 23 premiere of "Bones" can get in to mood on TNT. The mecca for syndicated Booth and Brennan has eight episodes starting at 12 p.m. ET.
-You're reading this, so clearly you weren't able to travel for the weekend. No worries. HGTV has a day of "House Hunters International." Help complete strangers pick out vacation homes, starting at 6:30 a.m. ET.
-MTV has kindly decided to salute hard-working Americans by repeating the first six episodes of "Jersey Shore's" second season starting at 5 p.m. ET. Dare we say "editor's choice?"
-When channel surfing on Monday, please be advised: TV Land has planned eight hours of... "The Nanny." Personally, we would have gone for "Hot in Cleveland," but fans of Fran Dresher should be pleased. The shrill antics start at 2 p.m. ET, after a much more palatable block of "Bewitched," which you can catch at 8 a.m. ET.
-Didn't have enough Bourdain on Sunday? Rejoice! There's an additional 12-hour block of "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel starting at 6 a.m. ET.
-If you're not already prepared for the evening's sure-to-be epic "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" reunion (part two!), Bravo is airing the entire second season, starting at 10 a.m. ET.
