Lady Gaga to do Times Square ball drop for New Year's Eve 2011

lady-gaga-brass-paw-ring.jpgNew York City's Mayor Bloomberg has made quite a hip choice to help him drop the ball on New Year's Eve in Times Square to ring in 2012 - Lady Gaga. Bloomberg has never met her prior to this year's New Year's festivities, but praised her talents in a press conference.

Bloomberg says, "I have never met Lady Gaga. I saw her once perform at the museum, the Metropolitan Museum. I thought she was a great entertainer. But I do not personally know her and I'm looking forward to it."

Gaga will push the Waterford Crystal button that launches the dropping ball. Past choices for this honor include Hillary Clinton, Muhammad Ali and Rudy Giuliani. In addition to dropping the ball, Gaga will also be performing for Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve.

Gaga also recently received a cool Christmas gift from one of her fans - the ring she's showing off in the above picture. She tweets, "Best x-mas gift ever from a lil monster. Brass paw ring."

Should be a fun New Year's Eve.
