Lance Armstrong movie news: J.J. Abrams to produce film based on 'Cycle of Lies'
New York Times sports reporter Juliet Macur is writing a book about Armstrong's doping and deception, titled "Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong." The book isn't even complete yet, and Abrams has already closed a deal to produce a film based on its content. Macur has covered Armstrong's career for over a decade, with insight into his battle with cancer and his seven Tour de France wins, as well as his adamant denials of misconduct.
It's not the first time Hollywood has eyed Armstrong for a potential film. For a while, Armstrong's real life biking buddy Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to portray the athlete in a movie that would highlight his heroism in the face of adversity, and his work to raise funds for cancer research. Obviously, now that the truth (or something close to it) has been revealed, Abrams' film will tell a significantly different story.
