Brewster, who left CBS' "Criminal Minds" at the end of last season, will guest-star on the two-hour season premiere of "Law & Order: SVU" on Sept. 26, The Hollywood Reporter notes. The first half of that premiere just happens to be airing opposite the season opener for "Criminal Minds," which will introduce Jeanne Tripplehorn as the replacement for Brewster's character.

On "SVU," Brewster will play the head of the Manhattan district attorney's Public Integrity Unit, which is leading the investigation of how a dead women ended up in bed next to Capt. Cragen ( Dann Florek) in last season's finale. It will be Brewster's second time on the show; she previously guested (playing a different character) in a 2007 episode called "Scheherazade."

The season premiere of "SVU" will also bring back several guest stars from May's finale, including Dean Winters, Laura Benanti, Ron Rifkin, Brooke Smith and Pippa Black, who played the aforementioned dead woman in Cragen's bed.
