'Law & Order: SVU': Mariska Hargitay locked in for Season 14, if there is oneAdd to Favorites | Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Hargitay has signed a new deal to remain with the show through a possible 14th season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She's been with the show from its beginnings in 1999.
Having Hargitay on board for next season (at a reported cost of about $500,000 per episode) may help pave the way for a renewal. The show's ratings are down this season -- it's averaging about 7.6 million viewers and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49 -- but it's still one of the network's steadier draws.
Hargitay says she's been re-energized this season, which saw the departure of her long-time co-star Christopher Meloni and the introduction of new characters played by Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish.
"The show this year is awesome and different and has gone into different areas," Hargitay said this week at an NBC press event. "I get to play different things. ... My character has gone on this unbelievable personal journey that is both reflected in her personal life and the storylines."
NBC will announce its complete lineup for next season at its upfront May 14. "SVU" wraps up its season on May 23.
