Leah Remini was in the news even before she was announced as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" Season 17. Having left Scientology -- in an extremely public manner -- this former star of "The King of Queens" was set for a move to dancing glory.

Now partnered with veteran pro dancer Tony Dovolani, Remini has started rehearsals and is getting ready to hit the ballroom stage. How has it been for her? The actress was a guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Friday (Sept. 6) to talk about dancing and other parts of her life.

What did Remini have to say? Watch the video above or check out the brief transcript below. It's safe to say that the actress is finding ballroom dancing to be a bit of a challenge.

Ellen: I'm excited about the whole "DWTS" thing ... now you started how long ago?

Leah: Yes, seven days ago.

Ellen: Are you hurting everywhere?

Leah: Everywhere! Places I didn't know could hurt. It's so much harder than thought and most people do say that ... But it's true.  I thought, 'Oh I'm going to be good. I'm going to surprise him!' I'm going to go, 'I can't dance!' Then I'd be like 'Wah-tah-tah!' [Leah does jazz hands] And that didn't happen."

"Every five seconds, Tony -- who is my partner, who is fabulous and is angel ... I think I have already broke his wrist because I hang on to him for dear life ... He's like, 'Let go, let go, let go!' and I don't even know that I'm doing it."

"Dancing with the Stars" Season 17 starts Monday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
