'Leverage' scores a fifth season on TNT
The pickup -- like that of Syfy's "Warehouse 13," which was also renewed on Friday (Aug. 12) -- isn't a huge surprise. "Leverage" is on track to record its most-watched season yet this year, as both its total-viewer and demographic numbers are up over last year.
So far this summer, the series is averaging 4.8 million total viewers (including DVR playback), a 10-percent jump over last season. Its adults 18-49 (1.9 million) and adults 25-54 (2.3 million) audiences have grown by 6 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
"'Leverage' has defied the odds and continued to climb," says Michael Wright, TNT's head of programming. "More and more viewers are discovering this weekly joy ride through wonderfully complex schemes and con games, all brought to life through smart writing, sharp directing and a terrific cast."
Season 5 of "Leverage" is set to premiere in summer 2012 and will run 15 episodes.
