Lifetime greenlights 'Flowers in the Attic' movie with Ellen Burstyn and Heather Graham
Deadline reports that the cable network has given the greenlight to the film, with Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn attached to star. "Flowers in the Attic" tells the gothic story of four siblings, two boys and two girls, who, after their father's death, are removed from their former lives and subjected to cruel abuse, both physical and emotional.
Abandoned by their mother, Corrine (Graham), the children are forced to live in the attic of their grandparents' mansion, where they form a unsettling family unit of their own. The oldest boy and girl, Chris and Cathy, come of age both physically and emotionally while acting as makeshift parents for younger twin siblings Cory and Carrie, all while trying to survive and escape. Burstyn will portray Olivia, the children's grandmother.
Andrews' novel was infamously adapted into a 1987 feature starring Victoria Tennant as Corrine, Louise Fletcher as Olivia and Kristy Swanson as Cathy. It was not well received.
