Only days after his death was reported as imminent, hip-hop artist Lil Wayne has been released from the hospital to continue his recuperation at home. This is definitely good news, considering that seizures had put Lil Wayne in ICU for several days.

TMZ.com first reported the news that Lil Wayne had left the hospital some time on Monday (March 18) evening. He had been in the hospital -- and in ICU until the day of his release -- for six days following a series of severe seizures. Doctors at the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles reportedly had to pump the singer's stomach several times to remove seizure-causing drugs in his system.

The story was immediately huge when it broke on Wednesday (March 13). Early reports indicated that Wayne was close to death, even to the point of last rites being performed. These were later proven to be exaggerated, although Lil Wayne's prolonged stay in intensive care indicates that he was in a very serious condition for some time.

Lil Wayne had first gone to the hospital for seizure treatment on Tuesday (March 12) but was released within a day. The second round of seizures was apparently far more severe, although probably from the same cause. Heavy use of codeine has been indicated as a factor in both illnesses.
