Lindsay Lohan was in tears during her interview with David Letterman Tuesday night (April 9), but the sincere chat about her rehab plans didn't stop her from partying at a New York nightclub following the "Late Show" taping.
Dave and Lindsay had a little fun joking about the persistent reports of her stealing -- the latest coming from the set of Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management." When Letterman asks, "Do you routinely go around grabbing stuff," Lindsay tells him, "I did buy this one" about her floral print dress. Still Letterman persists: "Yes or no, do you steal stuff?"
Lohan evades the question, along with several others about her rehab plans and addiction specifics. She does reveal she will begin her court ordered rehab stint on May 2. Another notable tidbit comes when conversation turned to Lohan's past community service at a Los Angeles morgue. " Heavy D was there when I was there," Lohan says, of the rapper who died in Nov. 2011.
Still Lohan was insistent she doesn't want her rehab stay to be a punchline. "I've put myself, in the past, in situations where, you know, I take full responsibility for it," she says. "And it wasn't funny, and I was being immature and I was going through a phase." Lindsay also jumps to the defense of her friend and benefactor, Sheen, who she says is "really nice" and treats his TV show crew members with respect. He also helps pay her bills, but that's another story.
Toward the end of the segment, Letterman brings Lindsay to tears with sincere praise of her recent decisions. "We never thought we'd see you again, honestly," he says. "Because of the jokes and stuff, but yet you have enough spine, enough sense of yourself, enough poise to come out here and talk with me."
Lohan says she considers rehab "a blessing" and insists she's looking forward to putting her troubles behind her. Yet she was spotted leaving a New York nightclub in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, wearing the same outfit she left the Letterman taping in. She's also reportedly planning one last blowout at the Coachella music festival before she goes in for treatment.
