Lindsay Lohan's 'The Canyons' not a hit with critics

Lindsay Lohan's latest movie, "The Canyons," is finally in theaters, though it seems the wait hasn't endeared it to the critics. The movie, in which Lohan co-stars with porn actor James Deen, has been met with its own dose of bad press since production, most of it wrapped up in Lohan's behavior on the set.

Deen was very candid about the experience of working with Lindsay, saying she was "like a child lashing out," referring to her bouts of crying or screaming on the set.

Those stories are now in the past, though. The movie has been released and what's important is how good it is. Unfortunately, if the reviews are any indication, that's not very good. The movie currently sits with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 24%.

Matt Patches of Film.com says the movie, "has all the elegance and depth of a daytime soap opera," while Rafer Guzman of Newsday calls it "hopelessly thin, clumsy and dull." The Detroit News's Tom Long adds, "You could put a lot of work into figuring out what's wrong here, but why bother? Pretty much everything's wrong."

That doesn't mean the movie has no fans, though. Andrew O'Hehir at Salon named "The Canyons" the site's pick of the week, calling it a "visual symphony" and "often masterful." Owen Gleiberman at EW notes Lindsay as a standout, writing that she "taps a vulnerability beneath her dissolution to remind you why she's still a movie star."

Truthfully, the only reason most are intrigued by this movie is fact that it's loaded with naked Lilo. Luckily, you don't have to see the movie for that, as some of the scenes have already leaked online.

"The Canyons" is in select theaters in New York, going to a wider release and video on demand August 9.
