Lisa Blount of 'An Officer and a Gentleman' found dead
The actress, who was perhaps best known for playing the friend to Debra Winger's character in "An Officer and a Gentleman," was found dead in her Arkansas home on Wedensday, Oct. 26 by her mother, reports the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
A local coroner places the time of death two days before. Blount's husband, actor-screenwriter-director-producer Ray McKinnon, was not in town at the time.
Blount was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas in July 1957 and raised in Jacksonville.
In "An Officer and a Gentleman," playing the rather cynical Lynette Pomeroy earned Blount a best supporting actress Golden Globe nomination.
Blount and her husband often collaborated on work, and in 2001, she won a best live action short film Oscar for producing "The Accountant," in which McKinnon had starred and directed.
