FOX said no before its 2011 upfront presentation, several networks have since taken a pass and the cast has been released from their contracts... but the "Locke & Key" pilot just won't die.

The adaptation of Joe Hill's hit, hauntingly stylized comic book, "Locke & Key" is now being eyed by MTV.

Deadline reports the network's  programming chief, David Janollari, recently watched the pilot and was keen on what he saw. Still, that interest has yet to result in an actual dialogue between MTV and the show's producers.

So is it likely that this iteration of "Locke & Key," written by Josh Friedman and directed by Mark Romanek, ever make it to air? It's a long shot, but the lingering conversation so many months after the initial rejection has to count for something.

If you're still unfamiliar with the project, check out the fantastic trailer below, and let us know if you think it might be a fit for MTV...
