'Lone Star's' 'One in Every Family': Gretchen can definitely stay

sarah-jones-lone-star.jpg "Lone Star's" second episode picked up where the pilot left off and the action started coming fast and furious, which was a welcome feature after the exposition-heavy pilot.

Houston

All within the first half of the show, Bob cons Clint into thinking the wind turbines are a good idea and settles his father John in as the man behind the wind energy and subsequently another inside man at the Thatcher company. But John can't stick to the plan when he becomes jealous of Bob's relationship with Clint and ends up stealing office keys, where he calls an unknown person asking for help in taking Clint down.

Midland

After the elopement of the pilot, Lindsay's family insists on a big wedding, which brings about two interesting developments -- 1) She realizes she doesn't know anything about Robert, and 2) Her sister Gretchen is a hellcat troublemaker. While the charming Robert (well played, James Wolk) manages to smooth things over with Lindsay, Gretchen isn't buying it.

Thoughts & Tidbits

  • David Keith absolutely stole this episode. After seeming like a bully who doesn't actually care about his son in the first episode, it's revealed that John actually loves his son very much. But he both resents and is jealous of the Thatchers and now it's father against son.
  • Sarah Jones as Gretchen was a welcome addition too. We don't know if she's sticking around, but Gretchen is an interesting foil for Robert in Midland, which had so far seemed much friendlier to him than Houston.
  • What did you think of the sophomore outing? Will it be enough to get the rest of the filmed episodes to air? Any hope for them filming more?
