'Low Winter Sun' canceled by AMC after one season
The series, which starred Mark Strong and Lennie James as Detroit detectives caught up in a web of corruption, premiered to decent ratings: It drew 2.5 million viewers for its first episode, which aired behind the return of "Breaking Bad" in August.
It couldn't hold that audience, however, and its ratings slid throughout its 10-episode run. The finale, which aired without the benefit of a "Breaking Bad" lead-in, clocked in at under a million viewers.
"Low Winter Sun" was an adaptation of a British show of the same name, also starring Strong. Reviews were middling, with a number of critics wondering if the series came along at a time when viewers were growing tired of antihero dramas.
