Lucy Hale's character Aria on "Pretty Little Liars" may have the confidence to seduce an older man, but even that experience wasn't enough to make her "Fifty Shades of Grey" audition any less awkward. Hale revealed to Cosmopolitan for their September cover story that it was just as uncomfortable as everyone thinks it is.

"[It was] a big monologue but very, very sexual," the actress explains. "There were some things that I was so embarrassed to be reading out loud, but it's one of those things where you have to commit wholeheartedly or you're going to make a fool of yourself."

Sadly, Hale didn't elaborate if her monologue was Ana's description of her oral sex as "tasting like a Christian flavored popsicle" or from the infamous tampon scene.

When she reached the topic of her own body image the young actress expressed concern for her young fans (3.5 million of them, according to Twitter) who watch her on the show and see pictures of her and fellow "Liars" on Instagram, thinking it's how she really looks. "Little do they know it's fake hair, fake eyelashes, and a good filter. Little girls see that and think they have to be like that."

Hale felt much more at ease talking about her first album, "Road Between" which came out on June 3. She comments that many thought she was joking when she said she was making an album. "Talk to me for 10 minutes about music and you'll know it's my passion," Hale affirms to her haters.

"Pretty Little Liars" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC Family.
