'Mad Men' Season 7 premiere gets a big ratings boost with DVR viewingAdd to Favorites | Mad Men
The AMC series drew just 2.3 million viewers to its premiere Sunday (April 13) -- its lowest number for a season opener since 2008 and down about 32 percent from the Season 6 debut in 2013. It also fell sharply among adults 18-49 (1.03 million, from 1.4 million last year) and adults 25-54 (1.1 million, from 1.7 million).
Based on early DVR ratings, though, it looks like more people opted to wait and watch the premiere than did last season. Live +3 ratings data show "Mad Men" jumping to 3.7 million viewers, 1.8 million adults 18-49 and 1.9 million adults 25-54 -- gains of 62, 74 and 73 percent.
The Season 7 debut is still running behind the Season 6 premiere's performance in Live +3 (4.5 million viewers, 2.1 million in 18-49 and 2.3 million in 25-54), but the year-to-year drops are now significantly smaller than they were in the overnight numbers.
