elisabeth-moss-emmys-2011.jpg "Mad Men" star Elisabeth Moss will head to New Zealand for her next TV gig -- which is for the BBC.

The continent-hopping project is a six-hour BBC miniseries called "Top of the Lake." Moss is in final negotiations to star in the drama, Deadline reports. She would play a detective investigating the disappearance of a young girl, who's also the daughter of a local drug lord.

The miniseries has some strong behind-the-camera talent associated with it: Oscar winner Jane Campion ("The Piano," "Bright Star") is writing and directing "Top of the Lake," and Iain Canning and Emile Sherman ("The King's Speech") are producing it.

Filming is scheduled to begin in January, after Moss completes work on Season 5 of "Mad Men" (the AMC series returns in March). "Top of the Lake" doesn't have a U.S. home yet, but Deadline says the Sundance Channel may be interested.
