'Mad Men's' Jon Hamm says soft-core porn work was 'soul-crushing' but don't get too excited

jon-hamm-vanity-fair-cover-2014.jpgJon Hamm is making headlines this week for a Vanity Fair interview. Is it because he reveals his humorous connection to Paul Rudd that goes back 20 years? Is it because he's so grateful to have his job on "Mad Men"? Is it because he blurts out "Mad Men" spoilers? (Of course it's not that last one; the "Mad Men" cast are notoriously tight-lipped about spoilers, under the threat of death from creator Matthew Weiner.)

But no, it's because in the wake of the old video that has surfaced of Hamm participating on a dating show, the actor tells Vanity Fair that that was a low point in his career because he was working in soft-core porn. However, don't start scouring your local video store's "drama" section to try to find Hamm's soft-core work. He wasn't working on screen.

"I was actually at that time working as a set dresser for Cinemax soft-core-porn movies. It was soul-crushing," says Hamm.

Drat.

Below, watch a behind-the-scenes video of Hamm's photo shoot for VF. You can also catch Hamm on "Mad Men" Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and in theaters May 16 in "Million Dollar Arm."
