'Made in Jersey' hairstyle controversy: Is Janet Montgomery's 'bumpit' too big?

made-in-jersey-cbs.jpg "Jersey Shore's" Snooki isn't the only Garden State gal sporting a "bumpit." The volumizing hairpiece is also favored by Martina Garretti, a streetwise attorney at a big Manhattan law firm in CBS' new "Made in Jersey."

But as network president Nina Tassler pointed out at the TCA press tour, "One of the biggest controversies coming out [of "Made in Jersey"] is the height of [star] Janet Montgomery's bumpit on her Jersey hair."

We thought she was joking, but "Jersey" creator Dana Calvo told Zap2it, "We've had conference calls about it!"

Calvo, a New Jersey native determined to smash the negative stereotypes of her home state, added, "I almost wore a bump in solidarity today. I can freakin' rock the bump!"

"Her hair is a big deal because it's so subjective," Calvo explained. "If I had my way, it would always be a little past her shoulders and about 6 inches high. But the network has said [the audience] wouldn't relate to that. So now it will always be at her shoulder seams, and it's a medium-sized bump."

"Made in Jersey" debuts -- bump and all -- Friday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
