Anderson Cooper's GLAAD award just gained quite a prestigious presenter. The organization has announced that Madonna will give the CNN host the Vito Russo Award at the 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards.

"By sharing his own experiences as a gay man, Anderson has reminded millions of Americans that LGBT people are part of their everyday lives and an integral part of our cultural fabric," GLAAD president Herndon Graddick says in a statement. "He continues to raise the bar and set a new standard for journalists everywhere, and I'm proud to call him a friend."

Cooper and Madonna are friends in real life, which is reportedly why GLAAD felt she would be an appropriate presenter for his award. Cooper publicly came out in July 2012 after he allowed fellow journalist Andrew Sullivan to publish an email he sent in which he wrote, "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."
