"Dancing with the Stars" pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a special announcement to make on "The View" Tuesday (July 29). He revealed he was leaving the series as a pro dancer.
"I'm done dancing," he told the show's audience. "I feel like it's time."
As for why he's leaving, Chmerkovskiy admits the two seasons he took off from the show made something clear. "When I came back to the show, it was not the same ... I was different, probably," he says. "When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val [Chmerkovskiy] included. I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot."
While he may think the show can do better, Chmerkovskiy returned in Season 18 and took first place in the competition, with partner Meryl Davis. The co-hosts of "The View" made it clear that while he is done as a regular dancer on the show, he may appear in another capacity.
