It's official -- Mariah Carey will not return as a judge for "American Idol" Season 13. She will, however, be embarking on a world tour instead.

The announcement came via the Twitter feed of publicity company PMK-BNC. The message they sent was simple, but it got the point across:

"W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol http://mariahcarey.com"

This isn't a huge shock to anyone who has been following "American Idol" news lately. For several weeks now, rumors have indicated that the entire judging panel -- Carey, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Keith Urban -- would be replaced after a season of falling ratings. Jackson even announced his retirement after 12 seasons before the most recent finale.

So who will be judging "Idol" next season? For the most part, that is still a mystery. The only name with a strong confirmation is former contestant and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. Signs point to Hudson judging alongside at least two of her fellow "Idol" alums, but no names have been given as specifics.

As for Mariah Carey's tour, her website does not have the dates posted yet. It's a safe assumption that they will, however, show up very soon.
