Mariah Carey on having a gay baby and 'maybe' seeing 'Burlesque'

It's just not Christmas without Mariah Carey belting out her take on the tunes of the season. This year she has lots to be thankful for with a bun in the oven, as well as another hit album, "Merry Christmas II You."

Mariah spoke with The Advocate about a few of the most pressing issues of the moment. Which apparently include what will happen if her child is gay, a potential musical and most importantly- what does she think of "Burlesque"

If we had to guess, Mariah and hubby Nick Cannon are probably focused on bringing a full-term, happy and healthy infant into the world. Not so much about which team that child will someday bat for.

"I guess we'd handle it as best we could in terms of being supportive," the "Glitter" star responds when asked about the possibility of having a gay son.

In the spirit of redundancy, Mariah also answers questions regarding a potential lesbian daughter who may not be interested in her mother's tight clothes and butterfly jewelry.

"You can't try to make somebody something they're not. Everybody's like, 'Oh, if she has a girl, everything's going to be pink, blah, blah, blah.' But I don't think you should go totally overboard on that. You should wait and see what the child wants," the mom-to-be says.

If we had to guess, one thing that child will definitely inherit is a set of pipes. Maybe in 5 to 10 years we'll have a "Mariah Carey and Child" Christmas album on our hands. Until then, fans can hold out hope for an HBO musical based around the crooner's holiday hits.

"We've been in discussions with HBO for over three years now. Everybody's been very supportive of the project, but nobody wants to accept a script that's not amazing," Mariah says. "A long time ago, the first idea I had was for it to be on Broadway and hopefully become a perennial. Then we spoke with HBO and got into discussions about making a movie musical."

As for that Christina Aguilera musical which is reportedly being referred to as the new "Glitter" (we're not sure whether to laugh or agree), Mariah is not too concerned with rushing out to the theater to see it.

"I haven't seen it, and I don't feel like sitting in a movie theater right now," she zings. "Maybe I'll see it when it comes out on DVD."

Oh, snap. That Mariah is ruthless! Almost makes us want to rent a "Glitter" DVD and re-live the glory. Almost being the key word in that sentence.
