Mariah Carey reveals weight loss, is the new face (and body) of Jenny Craig
Er, make that just "Jenny." The weight-loss company has named Carey as its new "brand ambassador," and it's also dropping the "Craig" from its name -- because apparently dieting is more fun when you're on a first-name basis with your plan.
Carey is making the publicity rounds this week to show off her post-pregnancy body. She's on the cover of the new Us Weekly, she took the glamour shot you see here for Jenny and on Tuesday (Nov. 8) she appeared on "The Rosie Show" to discuss her weight loss.
Carey told host Rosie O'Donnell that she had a difficult pregnancy with twins Monroe and Moroccan and suffered from edema, which causes excess fluid to build up in the body. She lost 40 pounds of water weight after giving birth; the rest, she says, came primarily through the diet, as she wasn't allowed to exercise for a while after having a Cesarean section.
"I had a really tough pregnancy," Carey says. "I was supposed to be on bed rest, but it was so bad that even bed hurt. ... I learned a lot being pregnant, watching my body change.
"The whole point of this is not just like, 'Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I'm fantastic.' It's really health. Like I said, I learned it when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life."
