Marilyn Monroe: Rare photos found, 'Seven Year Itch' dress up for sale

Marilyn Monroe Photos Turn Up in N.J. Man's Studio: MyFoxNY.com

Legendary beauty Marilyn Monroe is back in the news as of late - and it's all because a man bought some rare photos of her at a garage sale 30 years ago. Anton Fury, of New Jersey, says when he bought an envelope full of negatives, he had no idea that some of the photographs would be of Marilyn Monroe.

In the negatives, there were 33 pictures of Marilyn and 71 of Jayne Mansfield, another blonde bombshell actress of the 1950s and 60s. Fury says he stuck the negatives away and kind of forgot about them, but now he wants to get them appraised and hopefully find out who the man is in the photographs.

Fury says that eventually the photos will go up for auction and that he has already received calls about the photos from all over the world.

And speaking of auctions, actress Debbie Reynolds is getting ready to auction off a number of pieces from her Hollywood memorabilia collection and one of the top items is Marilyn's famous "subway grate dress" from "The Seven Year Itch." The auction begins June 18 and the dress is expected to fetch in the neighborhood of $2 million.

Reynolds tells Reuters, "I hope in the end they all find happy homes, that they will be shown, and that they might even land in museums."
