Marine dies during free vacation won on 'Ellen DeGeneres Show'
The husband of the winner of a free "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" vacation package died during the couple's trip to Australia.
Cherilyn McGraw won the trip on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show, and she and husband Brandon McGraw, a Marine, headed out on the vacation earlier in December. TMZ reports Cherilyn and Brandon went on a skydiving outing Dec. 14, and Brandon died when his parachute acted up.
An employee of the skydiving school says Brandon decided to jump solo because he is an experienced skydiver. Approximately 300 feet from the ground, his parachute caused him to "turn radically right and left." After he crashed to the ground, he was pronounced dead.
In addition to posting the above Facebook photo of Cheryl (second from the left) and Brandon (far right) taken before the jump, Cheryl wrote a brief goodbye to her husband on the social media website. "My hero. My angel. These are truly such symbolic photos. He was happy and doing what he loved," Cheryl writes.
