Marta Heflin dies: 'Come Back to the Five and Dime' star was 68

marta-heflin-dies-a-perfect-couple-robert-altman-come-back-the-five-and-dime.jpg Marta Heflin, a Broadway star who also worked with some big names in a couple memorable film roles, has passed away after a long illness, according to an obituary in the New York Times.

Heflin's Broadway credits include "Fiddler on the Roof," "Hair," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean Jimmy Dean." She starred in the film version of the latter, directed by Robert Altman, alongside Cher and Kathy Bates, and also starred in Altman's "A Perfect Couple" (pictured).

Her obituary also lists TV credits that include "The Doctors" and "Playing for Time" and that Heflin was a frequent perform on various New York cabaret stages, including Reno Sweeney's and Elaine's. The family is asking that donations by made in Marta's name to Animal Haven Shelter.
