Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch don't drink on 'Sherlock' set: 'There's so many lines'
Don't let Martin Freeman's dramatic characters in "Sherlock" and "The Hobbit" make you think he is anything but a comedian at heart. While promoting "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" at its premiere, Freeman had a bit too much fun teasing a "Showbiz 411" reporter.
In the above video, the reporter notes that she's heard Benedict Cumberbatch is a fun drunk. "Is he? I've not really seen Ben drunk particularly. We didn't really cross over on this at all," Freeman responds. "We don't really drink so much during 'Sherlock' because there's so many lines to learn."
What about "The Hobbit?" That was apparently a different story.
"It was mainly fueled by cocaine," Freeman deadpans of the production. "Mainly -- not only -- but mainly fueled by cocaine because not all of it was, obviously. The rest of it was speedballs, but a lot of it was just coke."
Just wait until he tells the reporter how he got his job in "The Hobbit." Hint: it has something to do with having "it where it counts." Thank you for continuing to be awesome, Martin Freeman.
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" is due in theaters on Dec. 13, while "Sherlock" Season 3 premieres on Jan. 19.
