Marvel Studios unveils third mystery movie release date
Just what is Marvel Studios plotting for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Three? Disney just revealed that a new untitled Marvel movie is in the works, and it is now the third to be announced that doesn't have an Avenger attached to it. Beyond Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" and the rumored "Doctor Strange" film, no characters have been officially announced as the focuses of the studio's upcoming Phase Three movies.
The first two mystery projects were announced earlier in June, and will come out on May 6, 2016 and May 5, 2017. The newest film will premiere on July 8, 2016.
There's plenty of speculation about which Avengers these movies could focus on. The Inhumans, Black Panther and Runaways are all popular voices, while superheroes like the Punisher, Blade, Ghost Rider and Daredevil are all newly back under Marvel control. Then there's always the chance Phase Three could feature a sequel to "Captain America," "Thor," "Guardians of the Galaxy" or a new "Hulk" movie as well.
Marvel still has years to unveil which superheroes the mystery movies will follow, but with San Diego Comic-Con and D23 just around the corner, fans likely won't have too long to wait.
Up next, Marvel has "Thor: The Dark World" coming out on Nov. 8, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" on April 4, 2014, "Guardians of the Galaxy" on Aug. 1, 2014, "The Avengers 2" on May 1, 2015 and "Ant-Man" on Nov. 6, 2015.
