Artist Mary J. Blige stopped by "The Queen Latifah Show" Tuesday (Oct. 15), where she told host Queen Latifah that an encounter she had with Queen early in her career meant so much to her.

"You were at one of my first shows, you don't even remember. You came into my dressing room and you said, 'Are you alright?' 'cause I was always going through something. You don't understand how you acted as a guardian angel at that moment, for me, 'cause I wasn't alright," says Blige.

Below, she talks about why her husband, Martin Kendu Isaacs (known as "Kendu"), was the one for her.

"He wasn't afraid to do what everybody else is afraid to do, which is tell me the truth. ... Give me the information I needed so badly when I was dying of alcohol," says Blige.

Blige also was there to promote her new album, "A Mary Christmas," which features the artist covering all the wonderful Christmas classics. It's available for download now.
